Middle school got to experience some cool things today! It is Fire Prevention Week, and today the middle schoolers got to learn about fire safety and how to use the hose and nozzle on the fire truck! Thank you to our Edgemont Volunteer Fire Department for coming out and teaching all of our students, and for keeping our community safe!

Today we had a special treat for our morning snack. It was Rambutans! We decided that they kind of look like sea urchins. They are a fruit from southeast Asia. We had to peel them and watch out for the seed in the middle. All the Primary class was adventurous and tried something new today.

This last week in high school math class we marked the end of September being suicide prevention month with writing of names of people we had lost and people who are fighting to reclaim their mental health.
Also, Algebra and Geometry classes took end of chapter tests. Some were happier with their scores than thers.

On Saturday the kids did a fundraiser out at Edgemont Trap club, then we kicked off homecoming week with coronation , decorating our hallway, painting their names on the football field, homecoming dance last night, and decorating for the homecoming parade.

High School English classes leaned into the fairytale homecoming theme by writing their own fractured fairytales! They discussed plot structure, figurative language, and common themes in fairytales. Today they workshopped their pieces with classmates, giving constructive criticism and feedback.
If you've ever wanted to read a dystopian version of Robin Hood or a western Cinderella, we can help you with that!

5-12 grade band is getting ready for the parade this Friday!

Homecoming fun in the middle school! Tuesday was Rhyme without Reason. Mrs. Parks was "6 7" the meme the students say multiple times a day, alone with her twin Miss. Bach, who was "Heaven" In English the students had 6-7 minutes, to write a 67 word paragraph, explaining what "6 7" means. Then 6-7 students shared their explanations! It was interesting to say the least!
