There will be a Parents Fall Sports meeting tomorrow evening at 7pm. This meeting is for the parents of middle school and high school students that are involved or would like to be involved with sports this upcoming fall season. The meeting will take place in Coach Long's room.
Introducing Yondr Pouches at Our School!
We're excited to announce the implementation of Yondr pouches to secure student devices during the academic day. This initiative aims to create a focused and distraction-free learning environment for everyone.
Why keep cell phones out of the classroom?
- Increased Focus: Without the constant buzz of notifications, students can concentrate better on their studies and engage more deeply in classroom activities. Studies show that it takes 20 minutes to refocus after a disruption from a phone.
- Enhanced Social Interaction: Students are encouraged to communicate face-to-face, building stronger interpersonal skills and friendships.
- Decreased Bullying: By removing phones, we aim to reduce instances of cyberbullying, helping to create a safer and more supportive school environment.
Each Yondr pouch is provided to students to secure their phones at the start of the day. Please note that if a pouch is lost or damaged, there is a $30 replacement fee.
Let's work together to make this school year a productive and enriching experience for everyone! #FocusOnLearning #YondrPouches #DistractionFreeLearning #StopBullying #LayingTheTracks #MightyMoguls #FullSteamAhead

🎓 **Celebrating Senior Success: Mackenzie Hollenbeck** 🎓
Join us as we continue our celebration of our seniors, spotlighting their achievements and revisiting significant events from the school year.
**Senior Spotlight #6: Mackenzie Hollenbeck**
Mackenzie Hollenbeck, a talented actor at heart, chose to step into the role of director for her Senior Project. She directed and produced a one-act play, which she took to the Panhandle One-Act Competition in Hemingford, Nebraska—a contest Edgemont hasn't entered since the '90s. Competing against six other schools, Mackenzie led our team to a commendable fifth place, just a point shy of fourth and tied with sixth. The judges were particularly impressed with our performance, favoring it over the sixth place due to its quality. Back home, Mackenzie also showcased her play during the Student Council’s Burgers & Bingo night, drawing a large, enthusiastic crowd. After dedicating over thirty hours to leading practices, creating the set, and coordinating with Hemingford staff, Mackenzie hopes her efforts will revive the tradition of one-act plays in Edgemont for years to come. Bravo, Mackenzie! 🎭🏆
🏃 **Throwback Highlight: Sports Opportunities** 🏃
This year was exciting for Edgemont sports as well! We brought back Cross Country and recently hosted a Middle School Track Meet at the beautiful Cody Barker Memorial Track and Field. These developments are just a few examples of the fantastic sports opportunities we provide, which play a crucial role in building character and community among our students. We're proud to continue offering such vibrant and diverse programs.
Stay tuned for more senior spotlights and cherished memories as we celebrate our students and their remarkable journeys!

🎓 **Celebrating Senior Success: Cian Waite** 🎓
As we near the conclusion of our hourly celebration, we continue to showcase the impressive accomplishments of our seniors and reflect on the pivotal moments from this school year.
**Senior Spotlight #10: Cian Waite**
For his senior project, Cian Waite embarked on a comprehensive exploration of law enforcement by participating in ride-alongs with various police departments at federal, state, and local levels. His journey included accompanying a VA police officer at the Hot Springs VA, riding with a state trooper, and joining a Hot Springs deputy twice, gaining diverse insights into the field of policing. Through these experiences, Cian discovered the professionalism and courtesy that characterize the law enforcement officials in his community, gaining a deep appreciation for their dedication. Congratulations, Cian, on completing such a meaningful project! 🚓👮
🎓 **Throwback Highlight: Preschool Addition** 🎓
Today, as we celebrate high school graduation, it's fitting to look back at where it all begins: preschool. This year, we were thrilled to add a new preschool program to our school. Starting strong is crucial, and our preschool provides the foundation for a lifelong learning journey. An education at Edgemont encompasses much more than academics; it’s about building life skills, friendships, sportsmanship, patriotism, and so much more. As we mark this milestone, we celebrate the comprehensive education journey that starts right from our youngest learners.
Thanks for tuning into our hourly senior announcements! We hope to see everyone at Baccalaureate at 2:00 today and graduation at 3:00.

🎓 **Celebrating Senior Success: John Heisler** 🎓
Continuing our hourly celebration, join us as we highlight the accomplishments of our seniors and look back at some memorable events from the 2023-2024 school year.
**Senior Spotlight #4: John Heisler**
For his senior project, John took on the task of surveying our school’s football field alongside Land Surveyor Dustin Ross. The goal? To create a detailed map showing the locations of all the sprinkler heads and valve boxes, making maintenance easier and more efficient. John also gained hands-on experience in surveying by shadowing Dustin for a day. Using AutoCAD, he meticulously plotted the surveyed points and produced a professional map. This practical project not only served our school community but also enriched John’s learning experience. Great job, John! Thank you Dustin Ross for supporting our learners! 🗺️🏈
📚 **Throwback Highlight: Project-Based Learning** 📚
This year, our focus on project-based learning continued to provide dynamic educational experiences, fostering real-world skills and deeper understanding in our students. We commit to this approach because we believe in learning by doing, ensuring our students are not just prepared for tests, but for life. This dedication to innovative education is what sets Edgemont apart.
Stay tuned as we spotlight more seniors and celebrate the unique learning opportunities that made this year exceptional!

🎓 **Celebrating Senior Success: Brendan Nelson** 🎓
Our senior celebration continues, showcasing the unique projects and accomplishments of our graduates. Join us as we spotlight Brendan Nelson and reflect on another memorable aspect of our school year.
**Senior Spotlight #7: Brendan Nelson**
For his Senior Project, Brendan Nelson embraced the rich heritage of the American West by crafting buffalo woolly chaps and writing a research paper on the history of the American Bison. Under the guidance of Wade Printz, an esteemed Edgemont Alumni, Brendan learned the art of leatherworking, channeling his dedication and creativity into each stitch of his woolly chaps. Brendan's favorite part of the project was the deep sense of fulfillment he felt from creating something both beautiful and meaningful. Well done, Brendan, on your exceptional craftsmanship and contribution to preserving our history! 🦬👖
🎶 **Throwback Highlight: Music Programs** 🎶
This year, our school's music scene was more vibrant than ever, thanks to our fantastic band and choir programs led by Director Suzanne Hollenbeck. From captivating concerts to dynamic performances, our music students have truly made us proud. These events not only showcased their talent but also brought our community together in celebration of their hard work and dedication. We are indeed fortunate to have such an amazing music program at Edgemont!
