Happy new year, Mogul Family!
They say time flies when you are having fun, and if that is true, then this school year has been the best one yet. I can’t wait to see the accomplishments of our learners in the second semester. They have amazed me with all their demonstrations of learning in the first semester, and I am confident the second one will be even better.
I do want to address any concerns that may have arisen after the news that a resident of Edgemont is a suspect in a recent child abduction in Indiana. Please know that our school district has safety measures in place to ensure a secure environment for our students. We also regularly work in collaboration with the South Dakota School Safely Center and local law enforcement to review and strengthen safety protocols. We work to implement those protocols that are identified as best practices by school safety experts, law enforcement professionals, school administrators and mental health professionals.
The most important piece of keeping our students safe is the vigilance of our school staff, our parents, our students, and our community. This vigilance plays a vital role in maintaining a safe environment. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to the authorities. This is my favorite part of living in a small community—we look out for each other and our kids.
Thanks for your continued support and partnership in keeping our community and our kids safe.
Here’s looking forward to a great 2024.
Mrs. Ferley

🎉✨ Happy New Year from Edgemont School District ✨🎉
As we step into 2024, our incredible teachers are seizing this time to recharge, reconnect, and craft unforgettable moments! From the bright lights of NYC theaters to the thrilling rodeos in Arizona, our teachers are experiencing diverse adventures across the map. 🌟 Some are cheering on lacrosse games, exploring the scenic beauty of states like Arizona, Montana, Nebraska, Colorado, and South Carolina, while others have discovered enchanting hand-hewn castles hidden in the woods! 🏰
But it's not all about grand adventures—some are relishing quality moments playing board games with their kids, nurturing bonds that matter most. 🎲
We hope all our students and their families are also embracing this time to create lasting memories with loved ones and embarking on exciting new journeys. Here's to a year filled with learning, growth, and treasured experiences! 📚✨

🎄📚 Merry Christmas, Edgemont Community! 🎅✨
'Tis the season filled with glee,
From our school to under the tree.
Books and pens all set aside,
Let's savor the yuletide!
At Edgemont, we proudly say,
"Merry Christmas!" in our own way.
Lessons learned, now take a pause,
Enjoy this time without school laws!
May your days be merry, bright, and free,
From the entire school, a jolly decree.
With warmth and love, we send this rhyme,
Wishing you a Christmas sublime! 🎁🎉

Not a bad way to start the Christmas break: delivering a beef donated by the Koller Ranch! Thanks so much for your support for our school! #MightyMoguls #LayingTheTeacks

More pictures from the Uppers Christmas Party.

The Uppers had a fantastic last day before Christmas Break. They started the day off if a breakfast feast. They had fun playing games and doing crafts in the morning. They enjoyed extra recess and ending the day with cupcakes, Rice Krispy treats, and popcorn while watching a movie.

The Primary Class spent part of their last day before break enjoying Marlon McDoogle's Magical Night by our favorite children's author EHS alumnus, Sean Covel.
They also got to share their singing talents with the Senior Citizen Center lunch crowd.
Merry Christmas!

For six years running, Mrs. Wright's Elementary Spanish classes have embarked on an exciting quest to find the runaway gingerbread men scattered throughout our school. 🏃♂️🍪 This year was no different – it was an epic success! 🙌 Students teamed up, exploring every nook and cranny, determined to track down these spirited treats. And guess what? Oakley Kaiser stunned us all by finding TWO gingerbread men in just ONE DAY! Absolutely incredible work, Oakley! 👏🎉 Meanwhile, Lane Maciejewski, now a middle schooler and retired from the hunt, left a legendary legacy by finding gingerbread men for three consecutive years! 🌟🏆 These record setters would be the seekers of our Quidditch team if we were at Hogwarts! 🧹✨ Before the hunt, students delved into the tale of the runaway gingerbread man in Spanish class, learning the vocabulary associated with the story but in Spanish. They also created delightful gingerbread art. 🎨📚 We cherish these small-town school traditions that bring so much joy! 🏫❤️ Catch more on this cherished tradition in this week's Fall River Herald Star. 📰 #GingerbreadHunt #SmallTownTraditions #SeekersOfTheGingerbreadMen #MightyMoguls #LayingTheTracks

Ms. Brotherton's social studies finished up studying the Regions of the United States by doing a presentation on each region and bringing in food that is specific to each region. Students did a great job with their presentations and enjoyed eating the different food brought in. We had pizza for the Northeast, jambalaya from the Southeast, puppy chow and buckeye balls for the Midwest, Taquitos from the Southwest, and donuts from the West.
